Disclosed in the present application are a polypeptide having a novel sequence and a composition and method for culturing feeder-free embryonic stem cells, using the same. The composition and method according to the present application allows for xeno-free cultivation and for long proliferation of embryonic stem cells in an undifferentiated state with differentiation potency retained therein.
The present invention provides a method for improving traits in a plant, like e.g. improving yield-related traits like number of flowers, number of siliques, seed yield, stem growth in a plant, the method comprising disruption of endogenous ROCK1 gene in a plant cell, wherein said disruption inhibits expression and/or activity of a product of said endogenous ROCK1 gene compared to a corresponding control plant cell lacking such a disruption.
The presently disclosed subject matter focuses on recapitulating the heterotypic interactions needed to maximize the co-development of vasculature and bone. More particularly, the presently disclosed subject matter explores the potential of cellular aggregation and temporal presentation of factors to induce the cell-cell signaling events required to stimulate ASCs to self-organize into vascularized bone. Further, exogenous PDGF-BB synergizes complex tissue formation in ASC cultures by enhancing vascular stability and osteogenic differentiation. The presently disclosed approach provides a robust protocol to engineer vascularized bone with ASCs in vitro.
A set of target peptides are presented by HLA A* 0201 on the surface of ovarian cancer cells. Coronatine has been found to enhance binding of the JAZ1 degron to the Arabidopsis F-box protein COI1, and analysis of the JAZ1 degron sequence has resulted in the identification of specific peptide sequences that bind COI1 with high affinity in the presence of coronatine. Crystal structure analysis has determined that coronatine and JA-Ile enhance the interaction between COI1 and JAZ1 via binding to a specific binding pocket on COI1. Attachment of one or more JAZ1 peptide tags as disclosed herein to a target protein in a non-plant cell expressing Arabidopsis COI1 or a homolog thereof results in degradation of the target protein following addition of a molecule that binds the coronatine/JA-Ile binding pocket on COI1. The present invention relates to a composition including Otx2 protein as an active ingredient for preventing and treating mitochondria dysfunction diseases. In particular, a single defect of the Otx2 gene reduces the visual function and electroretinogram (ERG) reaction, causes degeneration and decline of development of a cone photoreceptor and bipolar cells, and causes serious degeneration of type-II off-cone bipolar cells in particular. Also, the composition including Otx2 protein as an active ingredient of the present invention is confirmed to be usefully used for preventing and treating mitochondria dysfunction diseases by confirming that the Otx2 protein injected into an eyeball of Otx2 anisogamy mutant mouse passes through retinal nerve cells and significantly controls the activity of mitochondria.
